Meet the Artist
Jeri Allison
My life centers around my passion for animals and art. As a child and young adult, I had my own horses and continued to work with horses for many years at several farms in North Carolina. I also earned a Master of Fine Arts degree and have been painting and drawing since I was a child. My favorite subject is animals of all types. Several years ago this led me to start a business painting and drawing custom portraits of horses and other pets. A commissioned portrait is a wonderful way to celebrate the four-legged creatures that bless our daily lives.
I recently retired from my teaching position in the Department of Art at Appalachian State University. While I have been volunteering at Southern Sun Farm for several years, retirement has allowed me to spend more time with the kind folks and fortunate horses that call the Sanctuary home. It’s very important to me to give back to animals in any way I can. Aside from volunteering at the farm, I will donate, in your horse’s honor, 15% of the proceeds from my commissioned portraits to Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary. I know of no organization more worthy of our help.

(Each individual portrait is a separate piece of art. Final price will be determined after consulting with the artist. Prices are for a simple background. More complex backgrounds vary in price. When ordering, please send a high-resolution photo, your choice of background color, and whether you would like tack or collar included. All portraits are done on cradled wood panel or stretched canvas)
